IDIS analysis: Privatizations dont have to bring to public property dispersion and liquidation of companies that offer working places
Considering that the current Government proposed to efficiently manage and privatize public property, there are two options available for countries in transition. The first one is to liberalize totally and limit the role state in the economy. The second one is an active role played by the Government in economy, by involving in the development of the strategic defined sectors. Till now, it seems that Moldovan authorities didnt decide on any of these two options. These are the most important conclusions of IDIS associated economist Viorel Girbu in his policy brief entitled - Public policies in the field of privatization: approaches and perspectives". The product was developed with financial support from Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

Instituting an Autocephalous Church may be a solution for Chisinau to avoid the trap of geopolitics of orthodoxy
The recent visit of the Kirill of Moscow has revived discussions in local public space about canonical jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church and Moldovan-Russian ecclesiastical relations. Although the Patriarch has impressed by the depth of Christian message and avoided (as far as possible) (geo) political topics in his public interventions, the fact that he was received with military honors, and during the entire visit was accompanied by Prime Minister and Acting President of the Republic of Moldova, represents sufficient evidence for a serious debate on the relationship between the Metropolitan of Moldova and the Russian Patriarchy, in a broader context of the relationship between Church and State in contemporary Moldovan society, states the associated expert of IDIS - Viitorul" in his analysis entitled - Geopolitics of Orthodoxy and State-Church Relationship in the Republic of Moldova". The paper is financially supported by Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
