Communities with the best practices that will be awarded in December at the Award Ceremony were chosen

Best practices of local authorities in Moldova have been appointed on 21 November at the meeting of the Steering Group of the Best Practices Programme and will be awarded in December this year. During the meeting, members of the Steering Committee gave a note of best practices known in the documentation visits and have decided the winning practices.

Thus, 29 municipalities from 19 rayons and municipalities were visited in July-August by the project implementation team. To be noted that for the current edition of the Best Practices Programme 64 best practices from 41 local public authorities from Moldova were submitted. Sections to which local public authorities submitted their success stories are: 1. Transparency makes the difference! 2. Local involvement for urban revitalization; 3. Cultural heritage and authentic traditions; 4. Smart communities through efficient public services.

"The innovation, the local involvement, the efficiency demonstrated in time and the quality of the public services of the local public authorities that participated in the current competition of good practices deserve to become known, recognized and applied values in all the communities of the Republic of Moldova. In response to the effort, dedication and involvement of local mayors and leaders, I am convinced that appreciation of the best initiatives constitutes an important motivation for the people who bring change in their communities", said Ana - Maria Veverița, Programme Coordinator.

As a result of the competition, the best practice models of local public administration in Moldova were identified and disseminated, promoting the remarkable results of the communities that deserve to be known at the national and international level. In this sense we can mention the spokesman system in the city of Cimișlia, the modernization of the public park in Cantemir, the inclusive community center in the village of Schineni, the tourist route "Dor de Codru", the traditional craft center in the Răuțel village or the regional agri-food market in Selemet.

"In selecting the best practices, we considered the innovative aspect, the sustainability of these initiatives and the possibility of being replicated in other communities with a limited budget. And another criterion that deserves to be considered is the ability to keep the inhabitants in the rural localities and their motivation to be actively involved in the local development ”, said Diana Chiriac, principal consultant, the Public Administration Division of the State Chancellery and member of the Steering Group.

"I am happy that I was able to visit the communities that have shown best practices this year and I am glad that my mayoral colleagues are doing beautiful things and useful to the community", added Valeriu Musteață, the mayor of the village of Săiți and the member of the Steering Group.

In his turn, Eduard Ungureanu, expert in the "My Community" program, stressed the importance of involving citizens in the life of the community and appreciated the authorities' interest in this: "This year's best practices corresponded to the competition areas. The interest towards the support given to citizens by the local public administration, which is a much more obvious one in the coming year. The involvement of citizens in the local public administration is also increasing. I wish good luck to all mayors in what they do and support from the citizens because they are the ones who promote both the localities and the interests of inhabitants".

The Steering Group of the Best Practices Programme monitors and evaluates the implementation of the Best Practices Program, oversees the evaluation and selection of best practices of local government.

Best practices will be awarded at the National Award Ceremony, to be held on 18 December.
