The Action Plan in the field of Energy Efficiency  of public buildings of the Calarasi city for 2021-2023, will be improved with the involvement of students, teachers and representatives of civil society from the district.  In this regard, the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” is conducting three workshops to define priorities and actions to be included in the plan. The activities are part of the project “Promoting energy efficiency in Calarasi district (PEE-CALARASI)”.

The first workshop was organized on Thursday, February 4, online, and about 30 High-School  students participated from several educational institutions from the district.

IDIS “Viitorul” expert, Ion Muntean, talked to participants about the documents on local energy efficiency, policies,  and development prospects in the field for the coming years. Also, he talked about the undeniable role of young people in solving energy efficiency problems at the local level. At the same time, he  involved the students in discussion and requested them to tell their vision regarding energy efficiency promotion in public buildings in their district.

“The city of Calarasi is making efforts and getting results on the implementation of energy efficiency solutions. This should be continued, because energy efficiency is our future. If we do not take actions in this regard, we will face with more problems”, said Ion Muntean.

The project manager, Carolina Ungureanu, said that participants' opinions will be included in the Local Action Plan in the field of Energy Efficiency in the chapter of public buildings of the Calarasi city for 2021-2023, which is to be elaborated. “When and how the changes in Energy Efficiency in Calarasi will occur, depends on the proposals made. Those in the territory know the situation better and it is more efficient when solutions come from the local people”, mentioned Carolina Ungureanu.

The participants said that promoting energy efficiency can bring results if we will organize  informational and educational campaigns for the population, civil servants and local officials. The students mentioned that they support the idea of education hours in schools. Also, they proposed to elaborate the informational materials with examples of energy efficiency measures successfully implemented, in order to raise awareness.

The second workshop will be organized on February 11, with the participation of the teachers, and the third – on February 18, with the participation of civil society representatives.
