Best practices of local public authorities in Moldova were awarded. Find out which projects are winning

 

The best practices implemented by Moldovan local authorities in 2019 and 2020 were awarded on December 21 at a national ceremony. The event was organized by IDIS "Viitorul", within the Best Practices Programme of Local Public Authirities in Moldova. The Programme is implemented with the financial support of the Council of Europe and aims at identifying, promoting and disseminating good practices among local public authorities in the Republic of Moldova, thus contributing to the efficiency of local governance.

"Hundreds of communities make us proud of what they are doing, of what they continue to develop. The achievements of the local communities in the Republic of Moldova inspire us and make us hope for a more European, more prosperous and more beautiful country", mentioned the Executive director of IDIS "Viitorul", Liubomir Chiriac, in the opening of the National Award Ceremony of the best practices.

"Our common goal is to build strong local communities and for this reason, we believe it is especially important to learn from good practices, not to lose valuable ideas and to continue to know, recognize and apply them", said Ana - Maria Veverița, Coordinator of the Best Practices Programme.

In his turn, Daniel Popescu, Head of the Democratic Governance Department at Council of Europe said: “I am glad that these practices are celebrated, but the most important thing is not only to congratulate the winners, but also to learn from them. Learning from best practices is the best learning practice. There are mayors and innovative communities everywhere, especially in the Republic of Moldova, who bring new solutions to common problems in order to improve the lives of citizens”.

"The Best Practices Programme is a good example, worth following and replicating. This programme discovers many initiatives; discover people who, through sacrifice and dedication, bring change to local communities and better services for citizens. All the respect, all the gratitude and appreciation for the colleagues and those involved in the local development", said the president of CALM, Tatiana Badan.

In the 2019-2020 edition of the Best Practices Programme 64 good practices implemented by 40 local public participated in the competition. The sections applied by local public administrations are: 1. Transparent governance for an efficient public administration 2. Local development through community involvement; 3. Energy efficiency - a priority for any locality; 4. Authentic traditions at home.

In the context of the national award ceremony, 11 certificates of participation, nine mentions, nine third-degree awards, seven second-degree awards, seven first-degree awards and three special awards for the best practices implemented by local governments during 2019-2020 were offered. The winning authorities receives trophies, diplomas and surprises from the partners of the Best Practices Programme.

Thus, the following first-degree awards were offered:

Transparent governance for an efficient public administration

  1. Gaidar (Gagauzia) for the development of the official webpage: www.gaidar.md. The page includes information about the locality, local decisions, public procurement, public services provided, and other useful data. The site is available in Romanian, Russian, English and Turkish and also includes a version for the visually impaired.

Local development through community involvement

  1. Ungheni municipality for organizing the Urban Hackathon “Your city is changing for you. Together with you"
  2. Sireti (Straseni region) for the community involvement in arranging a sport space and repairing the local roads

Energy efficiency - a priority for any locality

  1. Festelita (Stefan Voda region) for the Creation of the Center of Excellence for energy efficiency by piloting the new typologies of energy efficiency in the village of Feștelița
  2. Leova for increasing the energy efficiency of the "Constantin Spătaru" Theoretical High School in Leova

Authentic traditions at home

  1. Budesti (Chisinau municipality) for creating the tourist and leisure route "On holiday in Budești!"
  2. Selemet (Cimislia region) for the revitalization of wells and promoting authentic traditions
